You found a pixel from 2005.
europixelitalia.com holds one of the blocks on the most famous ad page in internet history. Here it is, still glowing on the grid.
- x 790, y 900
- 30 × 10 block
- 300 pixels
- $300 in 2005
The story
In 2005, a 21-year-old student named Alex Tew sold a million pixels for $1 each, in blocks of 10 × 10, to pay for university. The page sold out within months and became part of internet history. The Million Dollar Homepage is still online.
Someone paid $300 for this block and linked it to europixelitalia.com, with this line:
“> > > > > EURO PIXEL ITALIA: versione GEOGRAFICA!!”
That site went offline long ago. You can still see europixelitalia.com as it was in 2005 on the Wayback Machine.
The pixel has a new keeper
Tunahan Aktay, an indie iOS developer in Istanbul, gave this block a home again. He builds small, polished apps for iPhone.
